Factsheets for the Environmentally Sound Management of Mercury Wastes

The Waste Management Area (WMA) of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership has developed a series of technical factsheets to support the environmentally sound management of mercury wastes. These factsheets provide practical information for countries and practitioners dealing with specific mercury waste streams and different stages of waste management.

The factsheets complement the technical guidelines on the environmentally sound management of mercury wastes developed under the Basel Convention. They are intended as practical technical notes, particularly for practitioners in developing countries, and should not be used as the sole source of information for implementing the Minamata Convention or the Basel Convention. Users are encouraged to consult the Basel Convention technical guidelines and other relevant references.

What are the factsheets
Factsheet on non-electronic measuring devices
Factsheet on mercury wastes from the oil and gas industry

Additional factsheets may be developed over time. The WMA Catalogue of Technologies and Services on Mercury Waste Management is also available as a complementary tool.

For any enquires about the factsheets, please contact the Secretariat of the Waste Management Area (wastemanagement@exri.co.jp).
