Under the project Eliminating Mercury Skin Lightening Products training activities and materials were developed to support Customs and enforcement authorities in the three project countries to understand needs and obligations for eliminating the trade of mercury-added skin lightening products (SLPs).
The main document Guidance on Monitoring and Enforcement Measures to Eliminate Mercury-added Skin Lightening Products highlights key tools and approaches that can be used by Customs and enforcement authorities globally. It was published in May 2026. Find here

In Sri Lanka, the training work conducted was supported through collaboration with the Project for promoting the Minamata Convention on Mercury by making the most of Japan's knowledge and experiences which allowed for several events carried out between May - August 2025.
