We are both creature and moulder of our environment

"Remember it is people that propel social progress, develop science and technology and, through their hard work, continuously transform the human environment. We are both creature and moulder of our environment."

These words are spoken directly from the 1972 Declaration on the Human Environment, which was adopted by the #UnitedNations Conference on the Human Environment, Stockholm, 16 June 1972.

On 2 and 3 June 2022, another crucial international environmental meeting will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, Stockholm+50 will commemorate the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action.

By recognizing the importance of multilateralism in tackling the Earth’s triple planetary crisis – climate, nature, and pollution – the event aims to act as a springboard to accelerate the implementation of the UN Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs). This high-level meeting will follow months of consultations and discussions with individuals, communities, organizations and governments around the world.

It’s time for bold choices. It’s time for urgent action. It’s time for a better future on a healthy planet.
