UNEP Partnership Policy

The purpose of the UNEP Partnership Policy (2024) is to facilitate innovative partnerships with a broad range of partners, enabling the United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) and UNEP-administered Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) to act as catalysts for transformative action to protect the environment. The policy establishes processes that support collaboration, reduce duplication, and contribute to effective and transparent decision-making. It embeds internal controls and risk treatment mechanisms into procedures, templates, and tools, aiming to scale up UNEP and UNEP-administered MEAs' roles as strategic partners, create effective partnerships for transformational change, strengthen regulatory frameworks, upscale best practices, and deliver 'nature-positive' solutions across sectors.
