Rainwater harvesting has not been given the attention it deserves and is often looked at as a last resort. It can be used as a backup and a supplementary source for conventional water supplies. The implementation of a demonstration project on Rainwater Harvesting in the Pacific resulted in many lessons learned which were used to prepare the Guidelines on Rainwater Harvesting for Pacific island countries.
