Due to the seriousness of environmental issues being raised as a result of the effects of rapid industrialization countries all over the world have been making significant investments in developing technologies related to environmental protection. Consequently the environmental industry has become a sector of top priority in many countries. Along with Information Technology (IT) and Biotechnology (BT) Environmental Technology (ET) has also become a promising technology of the 21st century. In fact demands for ET have rapidly increased the implementation of environmental regulations in a number of countries due to the expansion of green production and consumption and a closer relationship between the environment and trade. Recognizing these international trends the Korean government implemented a systematic support policy in order to promote environmental industries as a strategy to improve the domestic environment and bolster economic development.
