Special Programme Executive Board

The Executive Board is the governing body of the Special Programme, responsible for taking operational decisions regarding its functioning.

Members of the Executive Board

The Executive Board is the decision making body and oversees the Special Programme with the support of the secretariat. The composition of the Executive Board reflects a balance between donors and recipients as follows:

  • Four representatives of recipient countries, reflecting equitable, geographical representation, drawn from the following United Nations regions: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • One representative from a least developed country or a small island developing State on a rotational basis;
  • Five donor representatives, which are not also recipient countries.

The term of the representatives is on a two-year rotation. The countries serving on the Executive board during its 2026-2028 term are:

  • Ms. Linda Kosgei (Africa) representing Africa (alternate: Ms. Lilian Torome - Nigeria),
  • Mr Tapaneeyangkul Prasert (Thailand) representing the Asia and Pacific,
  • Ms. Ana Berejiani (Georgia) representing Central and Eastern Europe (alternate: Mr. Mirza Hujic, Bosnia and Herzegovina),
  • Mr. Helges Samuel Bandeira (Brazil) representing Latin America and the Caribbean, and
  • Ms. Miruza Mohamed (Maldives) representing Small Island Developing States.

The donor representatives on the Executive Board are:

  • Mr. Peter Korytar (alternate Mr Bernard Crabbe/Mr Jordane Wodli) representing the European Union
  • Ms. Maria Delvin representing Sweden (alternate: Ms. Ida Brolin),
  • Mr. Ivo de Zwaan representing the Netherlands (alternate: Ms. Eveline Verhaar),
  • Mr. Martin Vomland representing Germany (alternate Mr. Matthias Wolf), and
  • Mr. Chris King/Mrs. Becky Stephenson representing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (alternate Ms. Alice Evans).
