UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment

The UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) on 24-26 July 2023 in Rome, Italy, saw countries convene to review progress on the commitments made during the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit. The UNFSS+2 was a pivotal moment in our shared journey toward sustainable food systems and the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Current food systems perpetuate inequalities and fail to address rising levels of hunger and malnutrition. Meanwhile, biodiversity loss, pollution, and carbon emissions driven by our food systems are threatening the foundations upon which our food and food systems depend.

Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, officially closed the UNFSS+2 by presenting the Secretary-General’s Call-to-Action for accelerated food systems transformation.

It is critical to understand the obstacles and challenges that countries are facing and to reaffirm political will and maintain momentum toward a complete food systems transformation.
