UNEA-6 was preceded by a meeting of the Open-ended Committee of Permanent Representatives from 19 to 23 February, which laid the groundwork for the session.  

In the lead-up to and during UNEA-6, from 26 February to 1 March, Member States were encouraged to showcase effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution in line with the UNEA theme. The information shared is listed below.

How to get involved 

In the lead-up to UNEA-6:
  • Use the hashtag #UNEA6 to join the online conversation. 

  • Post success stories on your website and social channels and share these with your UNEP Regional Information Officers

  • Work with your UNEP Regional Information Officers to place articles or interviews in media outlets. 

  • Publish stories on your digital channels highlighting your country’s environmental action. 

  • Visit UNEP’s resources page for the latest science and data. 

  • Develop and share social media cards featuring quotes from local or national celebrities, experts or Ministers on the importance of tackling the triple planetary crisis through multilateral action.  

 

During UNEA-6: 
  • Participate in the event in person and announce your participation on your social channels. 

  • Follow the UNEA-6 official sessions live on UN Web TV.

  • Follow UNEP’s social media accounts for live updates on UNEA-6 and share news and updates on your digital accounts. 

  • Highlight new funding commitments or new environmental policy developments in your city, region or country and inform UNEP’s media team for amplification. 

  • Promote your country’s participation in UNEA-6, and why this multilateral environmental work is important.
