Digital Transformation for Environmental Sustainability

The first Digital Transformation Conference for Environmental Sustainability - Perspective from West Asia was held virtually on 15-16 September, 2021

Cognizant of the UNEP’s Medium Term Strategy 2022-2025, UNEP West Asia and GCEOA will work together to enhance digitalization to systematize, democratize and integrate environmental data, knowledge and insight for new collaboration and enhanced impact.

The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened and exposed the multitude of fractures in our society and the planet. The pandemic, and how we responded to it uncovered the societal and environmental vulnerabilities that we, as a community, evidently need to address. The situation underscored the transformation that needs to happen in all aspects of development. Additionally, the incremental strides we are making towards the SDGs and planetary boundaries highlights the much-needed systemic change that we need to reach all SDGs. And this change needs to happen at speed and at scale.
