Meet the team

Hassan is a Programme Assistant (UNV) working on the Africa Portfolio.  

Mary is an Administrative Assistant with the GEF Climate Mitigation Unit, UNEP.

She is responsible for the HR and Administrative duties of the Unit and is very passionate and knowledgeable in HR and Administration with over 7 years of experience in the private sector.

Lisa supports communication for the UN Environment Programme’s Global Environment Facility project portfolio. In her role, she leverages her expertise in digital brand management, public relations, and content production to enhance the visibility and impact of environmental initiatives.

Hildah is a UNV hosted by United Nations Environment Programme as a Finance and budget Assistant working for the GEF Mitigation Unit.

At UNEP, she supports budget preparation, fund management, provides ongoing guidance on financial reporting ensuring financial integrity across all stages of project implementation.  

Thandeka Mbatha provides operational support for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) projects under the UN Environment-Global Environment Facility Chemicals and Waste portfolio. 

Grace is a Finance and Budget Assistant working with Medium-Size-Project and Full-Size- Project Portfolio at the GEF Climate Change Mitigation Unit. 

She provides support in financial reporting, funds management and budget preparation to the GEF on mitigation projects. 

Joyce is part of UNEP GEF's programmatic department, bringing expertise in economics and statistics. She plays a vital role in supporting the development and management of programs that aim to address GEF initiatives

Daria supports the portfolio on project and programme development and monitoring and evaluation. She previously interned for UNEP before relocating to Nairobi support the Unit's work on SAICM. Daria is a Russian national and holds a BSc Molecular Biology and Sustainability. 

Pauline supports the GEF Chemicals and Waste portfolio on finance and budget management. She also serves as the IPMR focal point, leading on reporting and financial tasks. Prior to joining UNEP, Pauline spent five years in the private sector.

Maurice supports the portfolio on IPMR. Prior to UNEP, he founded the NGO Children of Hope India before working for the Indian High Commission, and then as a business development manager for law firm Chabi Otieno Chiteri Advocates. Chabi is a Kenyan national and holds a BSc in Communication Engineering from the National institute of Technology, Silchar, India. 

Carolyne is Finance and Budget Assistant at UNEP's GEF Coordination Office. She brings with her over five years of experience in finance, business development, and community engagement.

Jiya supports the Global Portfolio with the design and implementation of GEF and GCF climate mitigation projects. She has worked on sustainable cities projects, electric mobility as well as GEF integrated programmes.  

Rose supports the management of the GEF Chemicals and Waste Portfolio budget.

Iñaki supports the Mercury portfolio as a Task Manager, developing and overseing projects mostly in the Africa region. Prior to UNEP, he worked for UNIDO on mercury reduction projects in the ASGM sector and Circular Economy projects and in the private sector in plastics production.

Jonas supports the GEF Coordination with the overall management and implementation of the GEF Policy on Environmental and Social Safeguards, as well as UNEP's Environment, Social and Sustainability Framework (ESSF).

Inger Fedha is an experienced communications professional with over a decade of experience in the international trade and development sector.

Natalie works together with the team to reduce the Portfolio risk.   

She is responsible for enhancing the risk management framework for GEF mitigation projects, implementing strategies to assess, visualize, and to support informed decision-making to reduce portfolio risk.  

Mateo supports the Global Portfolio of the Climate Change Mitigation Unit, focusing on net-zero, nature-positive development, and urban nature solutions. He has seven years of experience in climate and urban policy.

Marcellus supports the GEF climate change mitigation enabling activities projects.

Andreu supports the coordination of the Unit work.

Susan works on the development of GEF-funded Enabling Activities proposals supporting country reporting under the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement.

Juliane manages all data within the Climate Change Mitigation (CCM) Portfolio.

Federico works as a project specialist for the Latin America and the Caribbean team, supporting the Global Environment Facility (GEF) portfolio of Climate Change Mitigation projects.

Ana Celeste supports the Global Environment Facility (GEF) portfolio of Climate Change Mitigation projects, especially projects and programs of Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing mainly on transparency, e-mobility and energy efficiency projects throughout the region.
