To prepare and submit Mongolia’s initial Biennial Update Report to UNFCCC and in doing so enhance Mongolia’s capacity to meet its reporting obligations under the UNFCCC on a continuous basis

To support the development of national fuel economy policies in 20 countries, 6 countries through GEF-5 STAR Allocations and 14 without GEF funding, using existing tools developed with GEF-4 support (examples are the fuel economy baseline calculation methodology and online GFEI toolkit). In addition, to support coordination of the 20 country projects at the regional level to ensure that results are disseminated to other countries within the region. This will result in reduced vehicle fleet CO2 emissions in these 20 countries inline with the Global Fuel Economy Initiative's target of a 50% improvement of the overall global fleet fuel economy by 2050.

To prepare and submit the Republic of Moldova's fourth national communication (4NC) and the first biennial update report (BUR) to UNFCCC and in doing so enhance the country's capacity to meet its reporting obligations under the UNFCCC on continous basis.

The main objective of the GEF project (the Project) is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through Energy-Efficient lighting market transformation and progressive phasing-out of incandescent bulbs in the residential, municipal and institutional sectors in Côte d’Ivoire.

Removal of major barriers to the widespread and cost-effective use of grid-based renewable energy supply and to the introduction of energy conservation measures.

The project will provide financial and technical support for the preparation of National Communications (NCs) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 12 non-Annex I Parties that have completed preparation of their current national communications. The proposed project will seek to strengthen the information base and institutional capacity of the national institutions involved in the development of national communications in order to integrate climate change priorities into development strategies and relevant sector programs. The project will ensure that countries not covered under the current National Communications umbrella project under GEF-4 , and which seek support from UNEP will have expedited access to financial resources for their National Communications. It will also ensure continuity in the strengthening of national capacities and institutional mechanisms for the preparation of National Communications by building on previous achievements and addressing gaps.

To assist the Government of Brazil to strengthen its technical capacity in supporting the implementation of its mitigation actions for greenhouse gas emissions in key economic sectors (industry, energy, industry, transportation, household and services, LULUCF and other cross-sector alternatives) in Brazil (including costs) as identified in the Brazilian National Policy and Plan on Climate Change.

The project will provide financial and technical support for the preparation of National Communications (NCs) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 14 non-Annex I Parties that have completed preparation of their current national communications.

To accelerate transformation of the lighting market in Peru through enhanced promotion and implementation of the utilization of energy saving lamps (ESLs) and the phasing-out of incandescent lamp (ILs) imports and sales.

Build capacity to reduce GHG emissions in the commercial and residential buildings including appliances, demonstrate technologies to achieve reductions of 20% of GHG emissions and put in place policies or programs to roll out these technologies to the marketplace.

Contribute to the development and implementation of a more comprehensive and sustainable Low Emissions Development Strategy (LEDS) for Mexico through an integrated assessment of short-lived climate forcers (SLCF), and the development and demonstration of targeted SLCF mitigation policies

To enhance the diffusion fo technologies that promote low-carbon and climate-resilient development

The project will provide financial and technical support to 22 LDCs and SIDS to prepare and submit good quality National Communication (NC) reports to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which comply with the Convention repo

To mainstream energy efficiency (EE) measures into housing policies, building codes, and building practices in East Africa and to achieve considerable avoidance of CO2 emissions as a result of improved building practices.

To provide support for the preparation of NCs to the UNFCCC, which comply with Convention reporting requirements and national development needs in 50 Non-Annex Parties.
