To assist GEF-Eligible Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing to prepare and submit their First National Reports on measures that each Party has taken to implement the Nagoya Protocol.

To get a common understanding of the Amazon Aquifer Systems (AAS) (TDA), the invisible giant, to strengthen existing regional governance, and to develop and endorse an integrated groundwater management approach (SAP) for its protection and sustainable use, thereby enhancing water security and ecosystem resilience in the Amazon region.

To assist GEF-Eligible Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to prepare and submit their Fifth National Reports on measures that each party has taken to implement the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.

In response to outcomes of COP 15 of UNCCD, decisions 9 and 11 of COP15, this project aims to support eligible countries to utilize GEF resources for implementing the Convention and the UNCCD Strategy (2018-2030), which is a comprehensive global commitment to avoid and reduce desertification and land degradation and to restore the productivity of degraded land to achieve Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). The project will support Parties to enhance their national-level institutions and technical capacities for effective and timely preparation and submission of the 2026 UNCCD national reports. To achieve this, the project will offer technical support to the UNCCD National Focal Points, equipping them with the technical tools to collect data and submit national reports through the Performance Review and Assessment of Implementation System (PRAIS) reporting tool.

To enhance national-level institutional and technical capacities for the 2021-2022 UNCCD reporting process in the context of the UNCCD Strategic Framework 2018-2030 and SDG15.3

To prevent the build-up of materials and chemicals in the environment that contain POPs and Mercury and other harmful chemicals in SIDS, and to manage and dispose of existing harmful chemicals and materials in SIDS

To assist GEF-Eligible Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to prepare and submit their Fourth National Reports on measures that each Party has taken to implement the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety

To implement innovative technical small-scale solutions in the Wider Caribbean Region using an integrated water and wastewater management approach building on sustainable financing mechanisms piloted through the Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Manag

Implementing the Strategic Action Program (SAP), promoting Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and source-to-sea approaches, to improve ecological, social and economic benefits and, enabling the countries to meet their relevant SDG and convention

Facilitate the implementation of the Stockholm Convention in Guyana through the review, update and submission of the National Implementation Plan (NIP) to the Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention (COP).

To assist Guyana in the development of its National Action Plan for the Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) sector, raise national awareness on the Minamata Convention and build initial national capacity for the early implementation of the National Action Plan and the Minamata Convention

Project Objective: Financial resources for the ASGM sector are secured to transition to mercury-free mining techniques

To enable country Parties to collect necessary biophysical, socioeconomic data, establish sound reporting and monitoring systems at national level and report against the UNCCD Strategy

To Assist GEF-Eligible Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing to prepare and make timely submission of their Interim National Reports on measures that each party has taken to implement the Protocol in line with Article 29

To Assist GEF-Eligible Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to prepare and make timely submission of their Third National Reports on measures that each party has taken to implement the Protocol in line with Article 33.

To support thirty nine (39) Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) prepare and submit good quality initial biennial update reports to the UNFCCC that comply with the convention's reporting obligation

The project will provide financial and technical support to 22 LDCs and SIDS to prepare and submit good quality National Communication (NC) reports to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which comply with the Convention repo

Project Objective: With the overarching goal of integrating CBD Obligations into National Planning Processes through Enabling Activities, the main objective of this project is to enable GEF eligible LDCs and SIDs to revise the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and to develop the Fifth National Report to the CBD

In the context of the Cartagena Convention and its LBS Protocol2, to pilot revolving financing mechanisms and their related wastewater management reforms that can be subsequently established as feasible instruments to provide sustainable financing for the implementation of environmentally sound and cost-effective wastewater management measures.

The development objective is to contribute to the effective protection and sustainable use of the water and land resources of the Amazon Basin, based upon the principles of integrated water resources management (IWRM), and manage the effects of climate change (CC) within Amazonian communities in a coordinated and coherent way. This will be accomplished by the eight signatory countries of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty, within the framework of the ACTO, through a program of strategic interventions. Project’s specific objective is to elaborate a Strategic Action Program (SAP) for the Amazon Basin and create the necessary enabling social-economic environment for the future implementation of the SAP, inclusive of strategic measures relating to adaptation by the countries to the effects of global climate change on the Basin.

The objective of this Enabling Activity project is to facilitate the review of implementation of Article (RIA) 7 of the Minamata Convention in participating anglophone countries through the review, update and endorsement of their National Action Plans (NAPs).

To strengthen regional capacity for the sustainable monitoring of chemicals (POPs and Mercury), to support the effectiveness evaluation of the Stockholm Convention and the implementation of the mechanism of the Minamata Convention.
