Improve the coordinated management of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden’s marine and coastal areas in support of a Sustainable Blue Economy in the region.

The objective of the project is to provide participating countries targeted financial and technical support to prepare new or updated TNAs, including Technology Action Plans (TAPs), for prioritized technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support adaptation and/or enhanced resilience to climate change impacts, and are consistent with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and national sustainable development objectives

The project aims to support eight (8) countries to prepare and submit Initial Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR1s) and combined Third National Communication/BTR1s (NC3/BTR1s) that will comply with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement reporting requirements, while responding to its national development goals.

Facilitate the early implementation of the Minamata Convention through the use of scientific and technical knowledge and tools by national stakeholders in Qatar.

Balancing of competing water uses in priority coastal areas through water, food, energy and ecosystems integrated governance, to enhance environmental security and sharing of benefits.

Foster MedProgramme-wide learning and dissemination of knowledge, effective portfolio coordination and synergistic interactions among CPs, gender mainstreaming and monitoring progress to impacts.

To enhance capacities of Iraq for monitoring and reporting on Multilateral Environmental Agreements through a well-integrated and functional environment information system
