The Projects development objective is to accelerate the development and utilization of geothermal resources in the Rift Valley as a pathway to low carbon development in the region. The Program’s global objective is to facilitate reduction of the growth rate of GHG emissions in the region through geothermal energy development to produce electricity.

The development goal of the project is to conserve, sustainably use and manage pollinators. The project has three principal objectives. The project will (1) develop and implement tools, methodologies, strategies and best management practices for pollinator conservation and sustainable use. (2) build local, national, regional and global capacities to enable the design, planning and implementation of interventions to mitigate pollinator population declines, and establish sustainable pollinator management practices, and (3) promote the co-ordination and integration of activities related to the conservation and sustainable use of pollinators at the international level to enhance global synergies.

The project overall goal is to enhance abilities of Kenya to address global environmental issues related to land degradation, climate change, biodiversity conservation and chemical management through effective, coordinated and integrated implementation of respective multi-lateral environmental agreements.

The objective of the Enabling Activity (EA) grant is to support countries in: (a) assessing the extent to which their current legal, policy and institutional framework allows for promptly becoming parties to the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement) and enables their implementation of the Agreement; (b) carrying out preparatory work in the context of their ratification, approval, acceptance or accession process towards becoming parties to the BBNJ Agreement; and (c) supporting their readiness to implement the BBNJ Agreement.

The objective of this Enabling Activity project is to facilitate the review of implementation of Article (RIA) 7 of the Minamata Convention in participating anglophone countries through the review, update and endorsement of their National Action Plans (NAPs).

Supporting integrated, low-carbon, and nature-positive urban development in Kenya through the adoption of policies, capacity building, neighborhood design, pilot implementation and resource mobilization, to generate global environmental benefits.
