In response to outcomes of COP 15 of UNCCD, decisions 9 and 11 of COP15, this project aims to support eligible countries to utilize GEF resources for implementing the Convention and the UNCCD Strategy (2018-2030), which is a comprehensive global commitment to avoid and reduce desertification and land degradation and to restore the productivity of degraded land to achieve Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). The project will support Parties to enhance their national-level institutions and technical capacities for effective and timely preparation and submission of the 2026 UNCCD national reports. To achieve this, the project will offer technical support to the UNCCD National Focal Points, equipping them with the technical tools to collect data and submit national reports through the Performance Review and Assessment of Implementation System (PRAIS) reporting tool.

The objective of the project is to provide participating countries targeted financial and technical support to prepare new or updated TNAs, including Technology Action Plans (TAPs), for prioritized technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support adaptation and/or enhanced resilience to climate change impacts, and are consistent with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and national sustainable development objectives

To support forty-three (43) developing countries to prepare and submit Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) and National Communications (NCs) that comply with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)/Paris Agreement (PA) reporting requirements; and respond to their national development goals.

GEF-10941 Ongoing Biodiversity

To fast-track readiness and early actions to implement the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework by providing financial and technical support to GEF-eligible Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in their work to review and align their national targets, NBSAPs, policy frameworks, monitoring frameworks and finance with the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Reverse ecosystem and water degradation and support integrated ecosystem-based development in the Volta River Basin through strengthened transboundary governance and restoration and conservation of ecosystems for sustainable livelihoods.

To support Ghana to Prepare and submit its Fourth Biennial Update Report (BUR4) and Fifth National Communication (NC5) that comply with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) reporting requirements and responds to national development goals.

To provide financial and technical support to GEF-eligible Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity CBD in their work to develop high quality, data driven sixth national reports (6NR) that will improve national decision-making processes for the implementation of NBSAPs; that report on progress towards achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets ABTs and inform both the fifth Global Biodiversity Outlook (GBO5) and the Global Biodiversity Strategy of 2021 - 2030.

To strengthen the capacity for implementation of the updated POPs Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) and to create the conditions for sustainable monitoring of POPs in the African Region

With the overarching goal of integrating CBD Obligations into National Planning Processes through Enabling Activities, the main objective of this project is to enable Mongolia to revise its National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and to develop the Fifth National Report to the CBD

To establish a working dialogue between equatorial African Governments that focuses on transboundary transport of major macronutrients in view of creating regional cooperation to advocate for changes in national and regional rural development programs

The development goal of the project is to conserve, sustainably use and manage pollinators. The project has three principal objectives. The project will (1) develop and implement tools, methodologies, strategies and best management practices for pollinator conservation and sustainable use. (2) build local, national, regional and global capacities to enable the design, planning and implementation of interventions to mitigate pollinator population declines, and establish sustainable pollinator management practices, and (3) promote the co-ordination and integration of activities related to the conservation and sustainable use of pollinators at the international level to enhance global synergies.

To revise and better incorporate the decisions and work programmes of the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity {CBD} into the existing National Biodiversity Strategy (NBS) to make it conform to the work programme of the CBD and the 2010 targets set by the CBD; to finalize the existing draft Action Plan to facilitate the implementation of the National Strategy and to come up with a draft National Policy paper on biological diversity. ; 18.To develop a home grown National Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) in order to provide more and improved information on Ghana´s biodiversity, for public awareness, and technical and scientific cooperation both within Ghana and with partner countries, taking into consideration the checklist of recommended criteria issued by the CBD in 2005.

The objective of this Enabling Activity project is to facilitate the review of implementation of Article (RIA) 7 of the Minamata Convention in participating anglophone countries through the review, update and endorsement of their National Action Plans (NAPs).

Facilitate the implementation of the Stockholm Convention in participating countries through the review and update of the NIPs and submission to the Conference of the Parties (COP) of the Convention.

The project aims to support four countries–Ghana, Kenya, Solomon Islands, and South Africa–to each prepare and submit Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) and combined Biennial Transparency Report / National Communications (BTR/NCs) that will comply with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement (PA) reporting requirements, while responding to national development goals.
